Japan’s Weird Food: Uni

My sister would not like me eating uni. Not only is she a vegetarian, I think uni comes from her favourite animal – the sea urchin. Uni is the sea urchin’s roe and is eaten as sushi here, usually on top of rice and wrapped in nori.

The first time I tried it, I was not a fan. But it showed up in my lunch box today and it was delicious! I am a convert. Anthony Bourdain would be proud.
